Version terms-v1-2026-10-06

What this is

The Live Lab is a free weekly music production challenge run by Mark Adam Burnett, Leipzig (see Impressum). You log in, get the brief, make a track, upload it before the deadline, and we listen back together.

Your track stays yours

You keep all rights to everything you upload. By submitting, you give The Live Lab a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to play your track at the listening session and to include it, credited under your artist name, in that challenge's mixtape and its promotion (for example on SoundCloud and social media). Nothing else — we don't sell it or license it to anyone.

Taking it down

Email contact@thelivelab.com and we'll remove your track from future use and from the mixtape where the platform allows. Copies already downloaded by listeners are outside our control.

Samples and permission

You confirm you made the track (or have permission from everyone who did) and that every sample in it comes from the challenge pack, is your own, or is cleared for this use. If a rights holder complains about something you uploaded, we'll take it down.

Challenge packs

Sounds in a challenge pack may be used in your challenge track and in any later release of that track. Don't redistribute the pack itself.

Be decent

No hateful, illegal or infringing content, and no harassment of other members. We can remove tracks or accounts that break this.

No guarantees

It's a free community project. We do our best to keep it running and your files safe, but can't promise it will always be available. Keep your own copy of your work. Our liability is limited to the extent the law allows; liability for intent, gross negligence and injury to life, body or health is not limited.

Changes

If these terms change, we'll say so on the site, and the version you agreed to is recorded with each upload. German law applies.
